Miraculous birth of a baby


Among the wonders and miracles of this world, is there any to compare with the things that occur in the creation of a new life? The whole process is an absolute wonder, from conception, to the development and growth of the baby inside its mother, to the process of delivery and birth. We are full of joy and gratitude to experience that marvel anew today, as we welcome Sophie Reese Kenison to our little family.

I #GiveThanks for the miracle of motherhood. What a special and sacred gift God has given to women, to join with Him in the creation of life! But I recognize it's also an almost inconceivable assignment, though I admit I understand only a little of what women go through during those nine months, and especially during the process of delivery. One of the sadnesses of my life is that I was only partially able to participate in that process when our daughter was born; I would have loved to fully witness and comprehend the events. But I still wonder at the courage and faith of our wonderful mothers, wives, and daughters who willingly take upon themselves that task.
And to hold a newborn in your arms! You truly feel you are brushing up against eternity. What an indescribable joy. Happy, happy birthday little angel!

(Luke 2:13-14) The accounts of the birth of Jesus don't actually say that heavenly choirs of angels were singing when they appeared to the shepherds in the fields. It says "saying," not "singing." Sensory memories: juicy pear jelly bellies

  My mother was a fascinating woman, with a broad exposure to the world resulting from extensive and frequent travel. She knew all about various cultures, cuisines, and delicacies. In her later years, she had a series of strokes that made it difficult to remember and communicate. Her world shrank dramatically. I don't recall when she developed a liking for "jelly bellies" - those small, flavorful jelly beans. At some point, I started bringing them to her regularly, usually in the bag of multi-flavor assortments. If her supply ran low, she would remind me, "I need more of those - what are they? - bellies." That was all she remembered. So I would bring her more. She quickly developed a favorite, though. She was always delighted to come across the light green ones with dark green spots among the assortment.
