General Conference broadcast
About 20 years ago, I had the privilege to be involved in facilitating some of the earliest multi-language Internet broadcasts of General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The numbers we achieved are minuscule by today's standards; but they made a huge difference in many lives back then, as people in very remote areas felt connected to the Church in ways they never had before. Those of us living in Utah were blessed with relatively easy access, and took it for granted; but many people in the past in other areas had to wait weeks or even months to get video tapes sent to them in order to see conference. Even printing and distributing the messages in magazines took several months.
Today, we can participate in conference almost anywhere we are. It is broadcast live on cable and satellite television stations in many countries. It is streamed live on the Internet - we can watch it even on our cell phones almost anywhere we are. And the transcriptions and videos are available online almost immediately after the meetings. The messages are remarkably accessible, for those who are willing to listen and learn.
I #GiveThanks for the way technology increasingly blesses our lives as we use it wisely.
