Ice Cream!
There is probably only one thing appropriate to mention today, since it was "International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day." I love our long-standing annual family tradition of joining this world-wide celebration on the first Saturday of February. We brought our children up with the tradition. High school friends joined us, and then children and grandchildren. In more recent years, we've occasionally invited friends and neighbors to celebrate with us.
I love ice cream. I always have, as long as I remember. My parents raised me well, I think, since those memories start pretty early for me. My sisters and I recall from our youth visiting our Uncle Bill and Aunt Agnes in the Uinta Basin, and having Uncle Bill serve us homemade ice cream for breakfast - much to the consternation of our somewhat strict and traditional mother! But perhaps he set the pattern for adopting this later breakfast tradition.
I've appreciated ice cream all over the world, particularly gelato (Italy), sorvete (Brazil), helado (Argentina), eis (Germany), or glace (France) - and many others. Luckily, in most countries you can just say "ice cream" or "gelato" and you'll get pointed in the right direction!
I have had times in life when I consumed considerable quanatities of frozen confections on a fairly frequent basis, and balanced the intake with lots of exercise. I had a license plate that read "ICE CRM1" on my truck. But in recent years, I've cut back a little as my ability for physical activity has been restricted.
I #GiveThanks to the ancient Chinese, or the Babylonians, or the Greeks, or the Italians, or whoever it was who invented this wonderful gift to mankind!
