Lilacs and memories

Researchers have shown that our sense of smell is closely linked with memory. Experiencing an odor or aroma can bring back more vividly an experience of the past that was previously associated with that smell. When a happy experience is linked to a pleasant aroma, the combination is especially blessed.
One of the aromas that most impacts me is the smell of lilac blossoms. I have some vivid memories from my childhood, and later, that return as I experience the smell again. It makes me very happy to "walk by a lilac tree."
Sadly, the blooming season for lilacs (and for most flowers) is pretty limited. But I don't have to wait until spring comes again. I #GiveThanks that some of those blessed odors can be preserved or replicated! Right now I enjoy washing my hands with this marvelous "Fresh Cut Lilacs" soap. The smell lingers on my hands for a while after I've used the soap. Having this around probably encourages me to wash my hands more often - and that's a good thing too during a pandemic, right?
