Cleaning hidden places

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Did you know that CHUCK (the Cabinet Hygiene Union for Clean Kitchens), an important and highly respected national watchdog, recommends that you do a thorough upper surface cleaning of kitchen cabinets approximately every 6 years?
However, based on my experience today, be warned that you will find many surprises as you climb up to complete the task. Be prepared with appropriate protective equipment to prevent injury, infection, or infestation.
Since we have lived in our home for approximately six years, we decided to tackle the task today. It was grueling and exhausting, but we conquered! Happily, no one was injured or infested in the process.
(In case you were wondering, yes, I made up that stuff in the first paragraph. But I did clean the dusty, dirty, greasy cabinet tops.)
In this home, there is no way anyone would ever see the tops of our cabinets, unless that person was about 9 feet tall, or was climbing up and walking around on the counter for some unknown reason. So really, there is no clear reason why the tops should ever have to be cleaned (ignoring those pesky CHUCK regulations). However, as I sit in the kitchen later this evening, *I* am aware of the change. I know that something that was dusty and dirty, now is clean enough that I could go up and eat on that surface (well, almost...).
It's nice to have that feeling and awareness of cleanliness. I think that applies to life as well. In moral or ethical sense, it means no "hidden dirt" - honesty, openness, and integrity in our life and dealings with others. In a religious sense, it means choosing to comply with accepted guidelines or principles, and going through the cleaning process of repentance when needed (usually more frequently than every six years! ).
I #GiveThanks for the personal pleasure of clean cabinets. It was worth the effort. Thanks CHUCK for the reminder!
